Hi all – as a part of my TLR within my English department, I am leader for APP. At the moment, I have a clear policy in which staff ‘track’ 3 representative pupils in each KS3 class and use these students to moderate our assessment and to monitor gaps in our teaching.
Please could I ask, if you are involved in/ leading APP in your department – how does it work and what are the ideas behind it?
Would be grateful if you could share
We use it for all KS3 students – great tool for tracking progress – each pupil has an APP booklet that gets filled in for assessments – works really well for parents’ evening – clear to see what the students are good at and what they need to do to improve.
Wow – I love this idea of a booklet. How does that work exactly, and what does it look like? – Sounds fab!
It has grids in it for reading, writing and sp/l – we tick grid for each assessed piece of work – easy for students to see how they are getting on – I’ll see if I can get a copy and email you one if you want to have a look? It does make marking a bit more onerous though.
I would like to take a look, thanks. I’m interested in looking at how others work so that I can review and improve how we’re using APP.
I’ll see if I can get an electronic copy and let you know
